Ravings of a mad scientist...

This journal....
This journal is mostly friends only. Some fandom adoration, but the majority of it is RL (more bitchiness than awesomeness). Most of it is related to the THESIS OF DOOM.

I am not impressed with the way the pictures turned out at all. Will not use that developer again: 36 pictures cost me 22,5 Euro and the picture quality really is crap. Here's the best of the lil ducks in our institute's pool (showing 2 out of 6 young ones).

Anyone who hasn't gotten their hands on a dreamwidth account or wants a second one? I have 4 more codes to distribute. Just drop me a line.

Edit: whoa. When I look at that icon any longer I'll be sick...

So it's spring.... right?
Flowers

I woke up to snow... and it hasn't stopped snowing yet. What is it? End of March? Shouldn't there be something called spring?  It's cold and depressing outside and, most importantly, wet (the snow is slowly turning into rain, fun...).

Most gorgeous handbags ever

I already ordered two of the fabulous handbags. They are all handmade, each unique and really really pretty.

Above link leads to my J/C (all 46 of them) and JAG fanfic (a mere 9). I moved whatever I could find after the poof of my old homepage (*sobs* and I loved the design so much!!!!) and the pc crash where I basically lost all my files. I am incredibly sorry that Abby's and NancyT's stories are lost. They are probably still somewhere out there, but I lost my copies.

That book list that everyone is doing....
Other - Bookworm
[info]nimue47
100 books to have read. Italics: started but not finished. Bold: finished reading.
If I counted correctly, I've read 51, so more than half of them. Not bad at all, I'd say. My huge collection of Popular Penguin Classics sure helped with that one...  ;) There's certainly stuff from Goethe missing on that list!!! And what about Grimm's Fairy Tales?

Books.... )

Now that's a good idea!

Part of being on Livejournal is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

I am in love with this icon made by Caff. Excuse me while I geek out a little. ;) Thanks to Caff to letting me use it!

Freezing

I just kept the window open for a little while and the condensed water that was on the INSIDE of the window frame froze. Right next to one of my apartment windows it's freaking -15°C. I don't even wanna think about how cold it might be further away from the house.

I love the lionhead, also the plane in the sky and the lions' gate bridge. The picture of the bridge looks like it was taken 20 years ago. It's amazing what b/w does to the imagined age of the picture.

I am back. Terribly tired because I've been up forever (7:30 am Saturday morning and now it is *counts hours* 9 am on Sunday over there (6 pm over here). A few more hours and I can go to bed and hopefully avoid the whole jetlag thing. Have to work tomorrow morning after all... *growns* Am currently watching the extras on the Continuum DVD to keep me awake. I also did pretty much all of my laundry already (4 big loads). Another load tomorrow and I will have it all drying in my tiny apartment. ;)
I had loads of fun in and around Vancouver and I just love that city. I've decided I could really live there. More pics once I got all my films developed (gonna hand them in tomorrow). And believe me, it's gonna be tons.
I got to meet [info]kabutar yesterday and talk to her for real which was great!! Wait, I think that was day before yesterday... Friday, yes. It gets hard to figure out when you're missing one night.  ;)

We wanted to go to Whistler today, which of course did not happen. A little rock slide was in the way and we did not wanna take the 7 hour detour. ;)
So we stayed in Vancouver once again. Still had fun though. It's off to Bard On The Beach soon.

Today we went to Victoria and of course the UVic campus. It's amazing how much it changed in just 4 years. Victoria was still pretty much the same. We had fun and met Bri's old flatmate. Other than that I only bought 2 T-shirts today (aren't you proud of me...). One Uvic and I found the one I wanted saying "Dam It" and showing a little beaver. So I am one happy camper. We did miss the fireworks though... typical.

Today there was rain. A whole lot of it... So we decided to walk through Vancouver. Not so wise you might wanna say if you have a perfectly nice car sitting in the car park... But we wanted to experience the typical BC weather again. ;) And we came prepared - once you lived in Osna for a while you know always to have an umbrella with you. We walked down Robson all the way to Gastown, looked at the gas clock (oh yes, touristy...), ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory (also touristy) and walked into every tourist shop there was. We did have a reason though. I saw a T_Shirt yesterday. It had a cartoon beaver on it and said "Dam it". I love it... But we didn't find it anywhere else and they only had one left and that was in small. Bummer.
Tomorrow it's off to Whistler. We do have tons of fun with US TV programs still:
What not to wear: very helpful and great fun
John&Kate Plus 8: Whoa. I so do not want 8 kids. But it's strangely addictive...

Well, needless to say we've been watching a whole lot of TLC. Oh, and I am now proud owner of a Stargate: Continuum DVD.
